Når er en transmaskulin kropp “akseptabel”? Når er en kropp "innenfor"? Hva gjør denne kroppen “godkjent”? Hva er “å passere”? Danseforestillingen Passing Portrait fremhever og undersøker spesifikke kroppslige erfaringer i én transkropp. Denne kroppen kan beskrives som en “cis-passerende” mannskropp, det vil si at omverden tolker personen som mann. I forestillingen utforsker Viljar Irtun Moe (han/ham) vranglæren om den aksepterte kroppen: den “passerende” kroppen som ikke sår tvil om personens kjønnsidentitet. Dansen kommer fra en kropp som har strebet etter å samsvare med et normativt og undertrykkende system for kjønn, og som nå reflekterer over hvorfor og hvem han har gjort dette for? I Passing Portrait stilles det spørsmål ved hvordan slike normer skapes, hvordan en tilpasser seg reglene, og hva som bidrar til å opprettholde dem.

Work-in-Progress: Viljar Irtun Moe – Passing Portrait

When is a transmasculine body "acceptable"? When is a body "within the norm"? What makes this body "approved"? What does it mean "to pass"? The dance performance Passing Portrait highlights and investigates specific bodily experiences within one trans body. This body can be described as a "cis-passing" male body, meaning that society interprets the person as a man. In the performance, Viljar Irtun Moe (he/him) explores the misconception about the accepted body: the "passing" body that leaves no doubt about the person's gender identity. The dance emerges from a body that has strived to conform to a normative and oppressive gender system, and now reflects on why and for whom? In Passing Portrait, questions are raised about how such norms are created, how one conforms to the rules, and what contributes to maintaining them.
